A female Goodfellas— the true story of A supermodel turned getaway driver for the mob.
All-American beauty Georgia Durante was one of the most photographed models in the country when she married mobster Joe Lamendola. It plunged her into a world she never dreamed of—and one she feared she’d never survive—as a getaway driver for the Mafia and an eyewitness to unspeakable violence, brutality, and murder, as she came to understand the terrifying risk of being married to the Mob.

The Company She Keeps
I am a big fan of true-crime writer Anne Rule. This book rates way up there with the best of them! You will not be disappointed. There is one heart-wrenching occurrence one right after the other. Just when you think things could not possibly get worse, they do!
The analogies and/or descriptions Georgia uses to describe her emotions really almost made me "feel" those emotions myself. She talks about being so trapped in her life just wanting out. One day she's looking out her window at a sparrow, and states she wishes she could be as free as that sparrow to simply fly away. That broke my heart knowing the bondage she was in.
She endured years of abuse and sadness, but the turning point comes when the abuse turns to her teenage daughter. Her husband has always had the upper hand and called all the shots, but NOW Georgia literally becomes a wild bear protective of her cub. The tables turn and she pursues him with the same boldness and rage he dished out to her. For the first time, he's on the run from "her" wrath.
But Georgia also has a huge heart. Her husband asks her to hide away $250,000 of "hot" money, so to speak, in her name and invest it for him. After this ultimate betrayal of her daughter, I thought for sure she'd keep the money. I doubt seriously her husband would have protested at this point, but Georgia gives every penny of it back! This was truly amazing to me and spoke volumes about the character of this woman.
Thanks for sharing your story Geogia. You are one remarkable woman with an extraordinary story of courage who becomes the "winner" you always were and are!

The Company She keeps

This is such a real writing. I couldn't put it down. This woman led an amazing life and always kept going. Talk about survivers. She is someone who should be recognized. For a first writing, she blew me away and I am an avid reader. I only hope she continues with her writing, I will be first in line, with many in back of me. I think everyone should read this book to see how we can make some wrong turns, but overcome them by the right turns. Georgia Durante is passionate in her writing, as well as living. Do not pass up reading this book...............

I must break from the norm because I thought the book was a decent read, but only if you know what you were buying. I guess it will be unpopular to be disrespectful to someone who was abused, but this book is misleading.
I thought I bought a book on mafia life. It felt like 3\4 of the book was about a model who was an abused woman choosing one bad man after another (whether friend or lover) seemingly unaware, apparently until her 40's, of the bad choices she had made. The book literally spent the majority of time detailing her abusive marriage that she repeatedly returned to. That is not a mafia book, that is a book about an abused wife and her life trying to escape from it. She happened to know, and be married to, people in the mafia and those stories are occasionally focused on. That said, I felt like I was reading 3 books as it jumped from abused wife to friend of mafia types to successful, brilliant businesswomen. Now, if her children, who were innocent and apparently messed up because of who their mother is, wrote a book then that would be an interesting read about what they were put through because of her choices.
Again, it's a good book and a good read, unless your expecting a mafia book, then you will be disappointed like me when you reach the end.

This Book Was AMAZING

While I was reading this book I felt so much power coming from Georgia. It takes alot to overcome what she has and for that, she deserves everything good that life has to offer. This book made me realize that life can get rough but you always have to push past the bad stuff to get to the good stuff. I had already thought that way but, having it come from a successful model was different. It made me realize in more light, that celebrities are just like us, they dont have perfect lives. There was absolutely nothing I did not like about this book. I recommend it to all my friends because it is truely the best book that I have ever read.
