« you have to know the original novel to understand this »
I was waiting to see and read this book. I liked it, but someone has to know the original novel to understand it. I wish Edward's eyes would show more emotions, that should've been Robert Pattinson's eyes as drawing. All the characters are awesome, (although, Jacob is a bit "girlie") I am only missing the eyes :) and some more color pages.
The drops (sweat?, tear?) on Bella's face are a bit confusing. There are on some pages where Bella is either frustrated nor afraid, but the drop(s) is(are) still there.
I thought Volume 1 will be the same as Twilight, but no, it ends with the 'running home from the meadow' scene.
I hope that Young Kim will consider all of these "complaints" from fans and will make Volume 2 even better. I will order that one too.

« Great Addition to Any Twilight Collection »
I thought this adaptation of Twilight into a graphic novel was fantastic. The art is absolutely gorgeous and Young Kim did an excellent job of creating Stephanie Meyer's characters. They were all drawn exactly as I had imagined them when first reading twilight. Reading the graphic novel felt as if I was reading twilight firs the first time again. Loved it and I can't wait for the next installment!

« Great Adaptation of "Twilight" »
As a fan of "Twilight", I was really excited when this book came out. Yet I didn't give it five stars for several reasons. For one, while the art in this graphic adaptation of "Twilight" is beautiful, there are some characters I'm iffy on. Jacob Black, for example, is not drawn the way I had pictured him. There are also several panels that seem out of place because they are too "realistic" for the rest of the novel.

Another reason that I rated this book four stars is because of how the dialogue is written. It is often jumbled up and looks strange. As someone who is used to reading a lot of Japanese manga, I was out of place in this book's left to right format and slow action. But it's not because of this comparison that I'm detracting a star. It's because of the layout of the story.

For the positives: I loved the character designs for the Cullens and Bella. Jessica looked a tad bit strange but it was still Jessica. The random bits of color dashed throughout the book add something nice to the book. From these random insertions I can tell why they did the majority in black and white: It reflects the mood in Forks.

Over all, I would recommend this book for avid "Twilight" fans. Manga fans like myself might be slightly put off but it's worth it to see Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight" in art.

« Another perspective of Twilight... the graphic novel »
Twilight: The Graphic Novel is a very impressive graphic novel. It is extremely well done, but seems thin, not only in size, but in content. The interesting part for me was that scenes that I didn't really think much about while reading the books are extremely well drawn here, such as when Bella arrives and her father picks her up and they drive home. There's one illustration in the scene that's so well done, you can practically see the car driving and the rain pouring down. It's amazing! However, the disappointing aspect for me was that other scenes that I loved so much, such as the blood typing scene, were barely touched upon.

The graphic novel is basically the dialogue from the novel, with a few quotes from the book thrown in. Some of the magic of knowing what Bella's feeling or thinking is sadly lacking. And Bella herself, the average, clumsy girl, has been transformed into a teen beauty, tall and slim with flowing locks of hair that always seem perfect. The images, however, are brilliant and extremely well done. I did feel, however, that the other characters were better brought to images in the graphic novel than were cast in the movie.

I am an ESL teacher and the graphic novel is a perfect format for lower level readers to be able to pick up a popular book and read and enjoy it just like their peers. Finding that Twilight has been transformed into a graphic novel was big news in my classroom. We have such a huge demand that I need to purchase two more.

Overall, it's an amazing book and worth the purchase even if you've already read the novel. It's a completely new take on the presentation of the story.

« I wouldn't spend over $10... »
Ok so I got this book from the library today because I wanted to read it before I bought it. The pictures are amazing but the story is a little confusing. If you haven't read Twilight enough times to remember most of the details then you may not understand what's going on in the book.

The story line jumps around a lot and skips large parts of the actual story....This wouldn't be bad if it didn't cause confusion...I understand that when it's a graphic novel there's not a lot of room for paragraph text but I think some of the scenes can be explained better.

Also, some parts of the story are out of order and it made me a little annoyed. It may or may not bother you but it bothers me.

I wouldn't recommend this book to buy unless you buy it with giftcards and/or spend less than $10. Go to the library and check it out if you want to read it. I do plan on buying it but only because I love the drawings.
